Fashion Hound

Fashion Hound
Each week Fashion Hound Faye De Lanty sniffs out a tasty slice of style

I spotted Gemma in North Sydney on the run for her morning coffee. Her caramel, butterscotch and latte shades really caught my eye. They create the perfect tone on tone canvas for winter layering and her hair blends in beautifully to the theme. We chatted about texture, travel and personal style

'Fashion is illusive and fleeting. The minute I think I'm catching up, it moves on. But it encourages you to keep re-evaluating your style, identity and the way you interact with society'

'I love textures, I shop with my hands! Travel definitely inspires me. You don't have to go far to find something that casts a different light on things. Just visiting a new Sydney suburb can be invigorating'

'I love the British brand All Saints and I have a classic trench coat from Jigsaw that I cherish. I'm a bit of a hat person, there's a bowler hat I'm particularly fond of and a panama I picked up in Ecuador'

'Style-wise, I'm an ex-pat still in cultural transit..I've got one foot in each country. I get the Sydney style on other people but it doesn't quite look right on me'

'The jacket is from All Saints, it's made from pre-washed lamb's leather. The colour works with everything and it feels gorgeous to wear'

'The ring is just a cheapie but I love it because it came from these cool craft markets in Buenos Aires'

'My Mulberry bag is a gift from my darling Mum - I like that it's getting tattered around the edges, it seems to get better with age the more it joins me on my travels'

'Style is forever, but fashion is fleeting: it's art versus commerce'
