I spotted Gemma in North Sydney on the run for her morning coffee. Her caramel, butterscotch and latte shades really caught my eye. They create the perfect tone on tone canvas for winter layering and her hair blends in beautifully to the theme. We chatted about texture, travel and personal style

The William Street Laneway Festival was on Saturday as part of the Paddington Alive Festival - this was held during Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival. It was such a great initiative for William Street which is one of my favourite style destinations. William St is filled with cute stores, high end designers, jewels, bespoke shoe's, jackets and hats! Walk free

Life is about chasing your dreams, but I got to be honest sometimes it's F*cking hard to catch the buggers!!

As I build my dream/ my brand& face all the challenges that come with it.. i have to keep reminding myself of how far I've come and look and all the cool things I have done so far otherwise I may go insane! :) This picture above (of my stunning friend Tiaan) was taken at the fashion fundraiser I did last year with The Butterfly Foundation http://www.thebutterflyfoundation.org.au/

I had a wonderful, albeit small team to help me but it was all my vision, my story, my heart - I did it and I surprised the hell out of myself and everyone around me. When you have those times where you feel that it's all a blur and really hard to get to where you want to get to..look at what you have done so far...pat yourself on the back and walk free from your worries..

You gotta giggle!

Do you have a friend or a few who whenever you hang out with them you forget about being serious and just laugh your arse off..well I'm lucky to have a few and man I cherish them...

Sometimes life kicks you in the arse and to be honest there really isn't much you can do except find the fun, brush it off and just laugh...i learnt that lesson again on the weekend..and my friend Karen just started laughing at my misfortune

(my bag was stolen&then i got to the airport and realised i had booked the wrong flight!) at first I was a little taken a back by her laughing but as i look back she was doing me a massive favour&she taught me a massive lesson - because what else could i do..I may as well get happy, laugh and let it go! And what do you know my bag showed up a few days later!

There is always a lesson and i am so grateful to have some funny friends to see me through

BATTLE SCARS

I have just finished reading the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and my god is it an amazing book! It really resonated with me and made me realise a lot of things about life and chasing your dreams..the Author refers to it as 'One's personal legend'.

He also talks about 'beginners luck'..when you start to follow your dreams/your personal legend you will always experience beginners luck, something great happens, it works - to let you know you are on the right path and give you a little lift..but as you proceed things won't be so easy and there will be many challenges along the way and you will feel like giving up, I know I have, many times - perhaps it's the Universe asking you how much you want this?

It will be tough, there will be battles to fight, you will be wounded and wear the scars..but it's those scars that are the true testament to your courage and how hard you fought for what is rightfully yours - if you could just hold on. The reward will be your treasure and it may not be what you expect....

So welcome your challenges, fight through the fog and stay strong and focused on what your heart desires. Wear you scars with a knowing smile. Keep fighting sexy soldiers!

LITTLE DRUMMER GIRL

This is the cover of my look book for my new collection

'Battalion of the Brave'.

The shirt is a vintage scout shirt that belonged to my Mumma and the velvet shoulder pads are part of the new range.

I love this image so much! I feel like it says alot about who I am and what is intrinsic to me.

I feel it shows what I hope to make women feel, while inadvertently doing the same for myself. It shows softness, femininity and a childlike quality yet it is sexy, sultry and strong. Everything I hope to be as a women and everything I wish for all women out there.

The model is my beautiful and intelligent friend Michelle - she's so humble and elegant yet crazy beautiful and doesn't even know it - which is kinda nice that she doesn't realise her power but hopefully she does after reading this! She's a real woman and I think her beautiful energy shines through in the image.

As women, we need to find that perfect balance of still being soft, feminine and vulnerable but not a push over...I think women need a bit of grunt, masculinity and a take no prisoners attitude, we have to love and believe in ourselves - we need to guard our hearts and fight for what we believe in and most importantly honour what we want and deserve.

Pave your own path and beat that mother fucking drum however you see fit girl! Turn up the volume and Sing your song!

BATTALION OF THE BRAVE

Ah life...there's ups and downs and sometimes we don't know the answer..what I do know is there is always a reason. It's a journey, life can be a battle and you gotta fight...through it all you have to be a soldier of honour, take care of yourself, guard your heart and do what is right for you regardless of who is fighting you. That's been my discovery over the last few weeks..oh yeah there's been some shots fired and I've taken a bullet..but through it all I have learnt that I have to honour myself. These lessons have become my ammunition and a big inspiration for creating my 2nd collection 'Battalion of the Brave' - it's about being a strong woman, a fighter, breaking through the battles and just quietly looking super cool and sexy while doing it! Soldier Chic!

f**king fighter

Meet my new style crush...Jennifer Herrema...Front woman for Royal Trux and now RTX, songwriter, producer, artist, renegade and mother F**king bad ass cool fighter chick. She's tough, she's bold, one of a kind and she couldn't give a toss what you think. She's all about being true to herself and wearing what feels good, not what is supposedly cool or on trend. She's found a vibe, a look, a story and a style that works for her and it's speaks volumes...she's rockin out doin her own thing and it's 'Totally dope'. She's been through some tough times - darkness and drugs..but she's fought on and stayed true to what she loves and paved her way back on to her path. She's strong and that makes her so sexy!

Her style influences are clear...

Part skater

Part unashamed rocker(she totally reminds me of my beloved Robert Plant)

She's GLUNGE (glamour fused with grunge)

The other part is American Indian/Daniel Boon with a dash of designer - she loves her LV..but always adds her signature Raccoon tail and distressed denim.

For me she looks F**king cool, free and fun and now she's been commissioned to do a line of one off jeans for Volcom. I WANT!

THROUGH THE WAR

Man sometimes life throws some bombs at you and part of being a soldier is fighting through the war! The best weapon - love and letting go! I've had a big lesson on this over the last week - on something that really isn't life changing but I felt like I'd been shot and lost a limb in battle! My internet has been down for a week!!!!! And it's amazing how attached we get to things...I felt like I was dying! Silly really! But a valuable lesson..there was nothing I could do I just had to surrender, let it go, wave the white flag! Maybe it was the universe also getting me to slow down. Either way I had no choice but to let go and focus on other things...like being grateful for what I DO have and what I CAN change..so I focused on doing the things I love and giving lots of love to my friends and family...and this morning...it's back..the war is over and I won!

SOLDIER ON!

I am so excited to say I have finished my second Love Chile collection and she's a beauty!

(That's one of the look book pics above!)

I am really am proud of it and more importantly proud of myself. It took a lot of work to get it done - I had to learn new skills, dig deep into my own pocket, sew and sew until my fingers bled, search for months for hard to find items, including the amazing Vintage army shirts above from the 60's and the 70's, plus I had some personal stuff on my plate that has been challenging to say the least. But despite all of that I didn't give in like I have before, I kept pushing through and 'Soldiering on' -Ironically if you've read my previous blog posts, the collection didn't start out with a strong Military feel, I wanted to focus more on Hindu Goddessess...but perhaps Subliminally as I was fighting through stuff the collection came up to meet me and we changed course together. Either way I didn't question it, I just rolled with it and the result for me is a beautiful outward creative expression of what has been going on for me inwardly and ultimately is the message I want to pass on to other women. Stay true to you, don't give up, believe in yourself and just keep soldiering on..keep on fighting baby! Don't look for anyone to rescue you, be your own soldier. We all have our challenges and I am so in awe of a young fighter friend of mine Jess -

she calls herself the WELLNESS WARRIOR

and boy is she one hell of a fighter!

I say Thank you to all the kick arse chicks out there who keep on fighting and I say Thank you for all the lessons that have made me stronger.

SOLDIERS OF STYLE

I am obsessed with American Indians and this picture was a big inspiration for my first collection. I just love how they express their loves, life and beliefs and take it to the nth degree - they wear it all and are true to what they love - so cool! And I totally dig the colours, textures, attention to detail and artistry in which it is created and expressed - a true style statement! And a visual display of bravery, being true to oneself and being a fighter! Rock on!

This is what has totally got me hooked right now...army/military/anything with a uniform/badge/medal!! Yes the colours ROCK and I love the embellishment but again I think it's the fighter/bravery vibe..it's very Love Chile. I want women to feel strong and brave. Wear their badges of honour with pride! I discovered the most insane vintage army shirts from the 60's/70's yesterday which I will be embellishing and adding to my new collection. They are killer! Some even have the name tags still on - I love that you can sense their story and their journey. Plus they will look super cool with all my shoulder pads, feather and chain pieces.

INSPIRE ME

I have been working hard on my new collection over the last few weeks, sewing, gluing, playing with chains, rhinestones, tassles and velvet and I'm almost done. It got me thinking alot about inspiration and why we love what we love. It's such a personal thing and from my point of view it's really cool to see what's in my head and my heart, the things that are resonating with me right now come to life in my new collection. I am still deciding on a name for the collection

(I'm thinking 'Shamansim' - a shaman is someone who follows their own path and listens to their heart and intuition, ultimately healing others)..do you like it?

That's ultimately what inspires me, people who are unique, that rock out to their own beat and are not dictated to by trends/fads..don't get me wrong I LOVE fashion, but I like it my way and like to make it work for me. I'm big on mood boards, they are a great way to express what's intrinsic to you. The process of making them is SO therapeutic to me - it really stirs me up and inspires me. I always do them for my designing but I've started making them as gifts or canvas's for the home&for friends...the picture above is one I made for my dear friend Arrnott - I picked all the things he loved and put it on canvas. I loved it so much I wanted to keep it! Being a fellow visual creature - Arrnott kept the bow - that really inspired him! The bright yellow contrast against the black and white really spoke to him

FLY HIGH BUTTERFLY

I was honoured and thrilled to attend the Butterfly Foundation Chrysalis Ball last night.

A room filled with love, life stories and hope. My label Love Chile has been connected with The Butterfly Foundation for a couple of years now and we created a fabulous fashion fundraiser together last year. I am super excited about creating more fundraising and awareness opportunities for them in the months and years to come. They are such an amazing organisation who are dedicated to supporting people who are suffering with eating disorders and negative self image www.thebutterflyfoundation.org.au

Having been there myself I know first hand how devastating these issues can be and indeed how misunderstood they still are.

The other element of the evening that really inspired me was the energy of not only the people in the room but in particular the wonderful women behind Butterfly. Created by one amazing lady, Claire Vickery, who had dealt with ED's first hand and decided to do something about it..to create a support base, a foundation that could make a difference...in spite of one particular naysayer who told her she would 'never get that up'..well she certainly showed him and indeed all of us what can be created when you have passion..that any dream you have really is possible!

The CEO of Butterfly, Christine Morgan, also made a beautiful speech and quoted one of my favourite pieces of writing by Nelson Mandela - I have it on my bedroom wall actually! So many of us are scared to fly, to show our true selves. Lack of self worth is a common factor with Eating Disorders, it certainly was for me..but Butterfly, like Love Chile is all about showing people how to find and spread their wings. Fly high Butterfly! I'll leave you will Mr Mandela...

Original Sin

While digesting my RAFW experience and working through a mild case of CFF -

'Chronic Fashion Fatigue' - (mostly due to stupid shoes), I reflected on the shows, the stand outs and the leave outs! It was great to be a part of it and play in fashion land all week but not alot of shows really blew me away and I really resonated and agreed with an article written by Vogue Editor Kirstie Clements in yesterdays Sunday Telegraph, Kirstie said.

'A good show is more than just fashion - it's the casting of the models, the music, the styling, hair, make up, the pace, the build. It's a piece of theatre, that, when married with design ability, is just magical! It's when you remember why you were so enamoured with fashion in the first place'

So true!! Fashion should be a story, deep, layered, textured...have some guts -Camilla, Alex Perry, Ellery, Romance was born and new comer Elliot Ward Fear were my favourite story tellers this year. They danced to their own beat and we all should too. If you ask me it's a SIN not to, a 'SIN on originality' not be true to who you are and what you want to express to the world. Be like Bianca Jagger in the pic above and stand out from the crowd kids.

Romance was born would have to be one of my favourite labels..they are genius, such amazing story tellers. Their attention to detail, vision and amazing skill.

Alot of the shows at RAFW this week, while great haven't really moved me.

I didn't get to see the Romance show live but even just looking at these pictures astounds me! The don't follow trends, give a care to what people will think and the Industry is purring at their fashionable feet. I'm all for fashion that follows it's own beat and these guys are singing the song beautifully. Totally inspiring! They deserve every success and I don't think it will be long before they take over the world!

My little Love Chile has been quite the young lady about town of late! It was so great doing my first show last year but I would never have dreamt that I would be invited to do another fantasy show - so fun and wild -only six months after my debut...but the Angels decided it was time yet again! Who am I to argue!

So for the last two weeks I have been glueing and sewing my fingers together a million times

LOVE LOVE LOVE!

It's true, it really is all you need! Of course love comes in many forms but the most important love of all is the love you have for yourself. You have to be your own best friend, be kind and gentle with your being, respect your soul, your 'perceived' imperfections and honour yourself. Take it from someone who didn't love themselves and ask me how different my life is now that I do. It's not an arrogant, obnoxious love it's about doing things that make you feel good, being true to who you are, saying no if you need to and creating experiences that make your heart sing!

My label Love Chile www.lovechile.com.au is all about this and honestly it grew out of a time when there was no love in my heart for myself& I consequently was making choices that hurt me. So now that I have seen the light using my label as a way to speak to women and share my journey is so exciting and important to me. STYLE SISTERS

On this Friday I wanted to give a little shout out to a special girl in my life - my sister Sarah! I guess my reason for doing so is that I want to express the importance about being grateful for what you already have in your life..not what you wish you had or think will make you happier once you get it...but what you have right now!

Sarah today I want you to know that I adore you more than the moon and the stars! I am beyond proud of you...always chase your dreams and always believe in yourself - cause I do!

I am so grateful that Sarah came into my life when I was 15 - she's my Auburn Angel (yes that's her REAL hair colour! Crazy right!) We have a wonderful connection and I can honestly say we have never had a fight...she is addicted to style like me (sorry Mumma!) and we share so many loves and passions - we just connect. Plus she's a tonne of fun and a little cheeky like me! I can totally be myself around her and never feel judged. I am beaming with pride about her - she is a go getter, focused and determined..a beauty therapist who is a global make up artist in the making and I have every faith she'll kick it on the world stage! Napolean who? Any was sis just wanted you to know what you mean to me.

On this very fortunate feathery Friday I wanted to share the beauty and magic of saying THANK YOU!

Everyday I have been taking time before my head hits the pillow to say Thank you! I say Thank you for all the things I am grateful for no matter how big or small. I say Thank you for my big wins and just as big a Thank you for the simple things like having an amazing family and beautiful friends!

I can't tell you firstly, how nice it feels to focus on the things that you truly are grateful for and see how blessed you actually are! But secondly how magical it is! I really believe that it's my sincere gratitude for what I already have that keeps bringing me more!

KARL IS COOL AS ICE

Ok so I seriously almost needed an ambulance after I saw this show on my favourite website wwww.style.com!! It was the most heartbreakingly original, cool (pardon the pun) and wonderful style story I have ever seen!!! The latest RTW Chanel show in Paris was an exquisite example of story telling and making dreams come true. Karl Lagerfeld actually dreamt about this show and without one thought of doubt or disbelief he bought it to life. He even had small icebergs bought in from the arctic circle - not even kidding!!! The models walked through water and the looks were so creative and original whilst still staying true to the Chanel aesthetic. There was the classic tweed teamed with faux fur, jewels that dripped off the models like icicles and even the signature Chanel bags were made to look like little ice cubes, so cool! (sorry!) - I also loved how you could see shades of Karl throughout the show - models wore rings on every finger some even dressed in a take on his signature white shirt, black tie and tux iconic combo. It was unashamedly from him.

I could seriously talk about this show all day - it's just the great story telling, originality and attention to detail that really blows me away - King Karl certainly knows how to tell a good story and that to me is what fashion should be about! Be original, have something to say and everyone will want to listen!

But for now, I still need that ambulance...hello 911 Im having a fashion heart attack!!

TIME TO SPREAD YOUR WINGS BABY!!

On this Friday I wanted to share a beautiful piece of writing that a dear friend gave me recently! We all have times, days, weeks where we feel unsure - can we really do all that we dream of..well today I say celebrate being you, reach for the stars and go grab your dreams! Take the pressure off yourself, indulge your passions and do what you love without attachment - just be you and that originality will be noticed! I have never followed trends with my label Love Chile - looks like the one above are just an expression of me and what I am loving at that time - strangely so it always seems to work out being bang on trend! Having fun and being me so worked for me this week - my label Love Chile is doing her first catwalk show collaboration at the Melbourne Fashion Festival - see anything is possible if you just believe, have fun and be you!

MONDAY IS DRESS UP DAY!

When was the last time you played dress up? Do you even know half the things you have in your closet? Before you go out and spend money on new things..check out what you already have - you never know what you might find that you can use to create a new look! When I was a little girl I was constantly playing dress up and getting my Mumma to take photo's of the looks I created with her wardrobe - yep always destined to be a fashion junkie! Playing dress up this rainy Monday here in Sydney took me back to being a little girl and playing...it's so important to find fun in the simple things and I found great pleasure in seeing what I could create! Not the best quality pic(working on that!) but check out what I found.....

An old khaki jacket I forgot I had (but very on trend with the current military look)

A vintage sequin top from the 70's I bought about 8 years ago( also on trend!)

An old slouchy and super comfortable singlet

And a beautiful leather belt my best friend gave me last week, (folded over to give it the look I've seen alot on the runways)

All paired with my fav old jeans and I've got a cool new look that's really in keeping with what's cool at the moment - military, sequins/embellishment, layering/texture.

'FASHION CAN BE BOUGHT, STYLE YOU MUST OWN'

Welcome to the wonderful world of a rare bird of fashion..her plumage is bright and beautiful and just like the bower bird she has been collecting her stylish trinkets for years! Her Bower is filled with colour, personality and a unique quality you don't often see! Iris Apfel is living proof that at 84 years of age..individuality never goes out of style!

Iris was rocking the oversized shades and bangle stack long before Miss Zoe and Starbucks were even born!

Ironically though for someone so style savvy she has never actually worked in fashion. She has always however, been surrounded by strong style influences. Her mother had a boutique during the depression and 'worshipped at the altar of accessory' a tradition this self confessed 'bracelet freak' has continued. Together with her husband Carl, Iris created a textile company called

'Old World Weavers' replicating vintage and antique fabrics..and in doing so attracted style deities like Jackie Onassis and Greta Garbo!

What I love most about Iris, apart from her one of a kind eclectic style is that she couldn't give a toss about trends, infact she calls them 'the kiss of death'! She follows her heart when it comes to fashion and stays true to what she loves and feel good in...and that could be anything from a $5 top in a sale bin to a Balenciaga investment buy.

She certainly tells her own story through style and now the fashion world is obsessed with her! Iris can be seen gracing best dressed pages, front row at shows and topping designer must have lists. There is even a US touring exhibition of her wardrobe collection and an accompanying book

Rare Bird of Fashion: The Irreverant Iris Apfel. Just like my Grandma did, I imagine Iris has years of wisdom and wonderful tales that the young and vacuous fashion set could learn from.

I would LOVE to sit down for tea with her!

Random acts of kindness Ellen style!

If you ask me it is an important purpose of ours as human beings to help others...however big or small. Nothing touches me more than seeing people's dreams come true..its so powerful, so inspiring. Inspiration is all around us and Ellen is someone who really inspires me..she is always bringing love and light to people less fortunate and her random acts of kindness always make me cry! Her surprise on her show today was for a girl who didn't make the final 24 on American Idol...Angela Martin. Angela has an amazing voice and has certainly been through alot. Her Dad was shot by her step Mum, her daughter is disabled and her real Mum has gone missing. She's tried out for Idol 3 times and has never made it to the final 24 and now that she is 28 she can't try out again but still she stays positive and never stops believing that things are going to get better&that she will get her dream of being a singer. Now you may not have the power to perform world scale acts like Ellen but what randon act of kindness could you perform today and for who? You never know they might have just as much impact. Find the time to talk to a lonely old person that lives in your street, give someone a compliment, smile at someone who looks sad, give a homeless person a coin...Seriously it feels so good to give love and support and the Universe notices...think about something you could do..not just today but everyday and notice the nice acts that will bestowed upon you! Even if it's just happiness in your heart...that sounds like enough to me!

WHAT/WHO ROCKS AND RESONATES YOUR WORLD?

Inspiration! It's such a personal thing. I m fascinated by it..I love hearing what inspires people - what gets them up in the morning, catches their eye, warms their heart, excites their soul.

For me, it can be anything - the colour of a flower, the perfect formation of a feather, a song, a beautiful piece of writing, a little girls hair.

But more often than not though it's style and the art of expression through style - I think thats so cool! I can get lost in the pages&pictures of style for hours! The colours, the looks. the stories. This photo kills me! (he he) I love the label Dsquared because those boys are such great story tellers..they always have a strong look, feel and vibe in their collections and always with a dash of uber coolness! I love the layering here, the different fabrics and textures - flanelette with leopard print, denim and suede. The relaxed look of the ensemble..it just rocks and really resonates with me. Can't really explain why it just totally inspires me, thats the thing with inspiration - it's totally a personal thing, something that just hits you.....

A Hindu life lesson

As I continue to research the wonderful world of Hindu, I uncover more beauty, stunning symbolism, truth and life lessons. I have been learning about Lakshmi, Ganesha and Saraswati - thats the colourful peeps above but have uncovered some beautiful Hindu quotes, text and learnings as well. I am obsessed with words and writing as much as I am fashion - its the story telling element that words provide and the imagery, feelings and ideas they can ignite in our imagination. Fashion to me is story telling too and I think thats the core reason I feel so connected to this stylish medium..the ability to do both - tell a story and create through style is my dream job which is why I created Love Chile! Style that speaks!

LAKSHMI: THE GODDESS OF WEALTH AND PROSPERITY

Lakshmi and all her hindu gods and goddess friends are what I m really drawn to right now, well have been for ages actually! And it's these cultural Hindu icons that are the basis of my yet to be named 2nd collection. I think it's partly because of the ancient meditation I practice - Transcendental Meditation. First brought to the western world by Maherishi Mahesh Yogi (he taught the beatles in the 70's) and partly because of the beauty, detail and expression in their culture. The rich colours, the ornate and original jewels, the gentle, flowing fabrics, the unashamed femininity, the meaning behind everything..so devine! I have so many beautiful images to reference and I am learning all I can about their culture and beliefs. Their ancient language - Sanskrit is so beautiful. One word that captures my mind is LILA..it means cosmic play or cosmic dance..to just dance with the universe, go with the flow, follow your intuition. Sounds pretty bang on to me!

WHAT DOES STYLE MEAN TO YOU....

To me it's that certain something that can't be described..an ineffible quality....an effortless cool...like the girl above...heartbreakingly stylish, but she so doesn't have to try -just like my favourite city NYC! it's just cool because its being itself! I love that you can totally get the vibe of someone, their personality and what inspires them, by how they put themselves together, by what they adoren their body with...that is so cool!

I've always said 'Clothes are a fabulous form of self expression, our message to the world without words".....I so believe that and I love that what we wear can totally speak for us....it's such a great way to communicate...and thats my ultimate goal with Love Chile - to speak through my brand, to send a message through the clothing that women can identify with - a brand with a voice....

TRUST Sometimes on my daily walks I pass an old guy wearing a blue cap with the word TRUST written bang smack in the middle - most of the time its really when I need to see it most and he always walks past me in exacly the same spot! It's like he's been put there for me.

I don't know about you but I believe in angels and I swear I see weird little signs like this quite often. I like to think it's a message from the winged ones telling me all is ok. Yesterday when I bumped out a negative thought from my mind and refused to indulge it I was rewarded the very next minute. When I went to put money in the parking meter - there was a ticket poking out of the machine paid in full for the next hour and a half!! I looked around to see if it was a trick or there was a camera....nothing! I just giggled, accepted and placed it on my dash (it had half an hour to go when i returned so I made sure I left it there for the next person - pay that shit forward i say !)

My god life can test us sometimes, I had one of those days today and I had to reach really deep to find my trust in the universe (even after my lucky parking ticket yesterday!) This was a tough one to trust - but that is exactly the point it is just another challenge from the universe to see how much you do trust. All I can say is - you have to keep trusting. Things feel shitty - trust! Someone let you down - trust. You dream of the world but all you see right now is a big fat nothing - trust. Trust - there is always a reason.

'NIGHT OF THE BUTTERFLY'- MY FIRST COLLECTION MOODBOARD!

So this is where it all began. One rainy weekend I sat on my loungeroom floor, incense and candles burning, magazines, pictures and album covers at my feet - Led Zeppelin on the stereo and my beloved Soho (my 10 year old Beagle snoring by my side) and I began to create my collection. My passion for 70's music in particular Led Zeppelin resonated as it always does in my heart, this is a band that beyond inspires me - sexy, soulful and hearbreakingly cool - I knew that rock n roll would always be at the centre of the Love Chile aesthetic. I've been on a diet of 60's/7o's music since I was a little girl - my parents shared all the greats with me. The Stones, Hendrix, Cream, Free, Marvin, Curtis, Hathaway! Love love love!

It was until after the collection that I made the following choice though - to explore a new culture with every collection - the rock aesthetic is always fused with a culture, a new place, a new energy. My first colletion had to be with the American Indian culture - I am obssessed with them. They are such a beautiful dichotomy, a cool contradiction. The live simply, beautifully and in harmony with nature but what they wear - their traditional costumes and jewellery are magnificently detailed and dripping with rich symbolism. Music to my ears!

So as I began to arrange my pictures on my moodboard the story of the collection unfolded. There will always be a Love Chile that results from each collection - a beautiful blend of the rock and the place -be it India, Tokyo, Mexico, North America, Egypt. A fusion of 70's rock and cultural style. This collection was to be the 70's rock and the Native American culture.

I decided that a 70's rock god meets a Butterfly Maiden (an iconic spiritual figure from the Native Hopi tribe) and they have a Love Chile. Since both elements - the 70's rock and the American Indian thrive on Freedom - I knew that would be the driving force behind the clothes - the collection is about a night to be free, and the pieces are what that love chile might wear - cool rock with an Indian ethos. Super sexy, fun and unique - like any good Love Chile should be!

The Original Love Chile! My Mumma Nadia circa London 1960's - think she's about 17! Even though she looks 10! I m hoping her amazing Polish genes will rub off on me and I will continue to look younger than I am!

I adore this photo and it inspired the launch of my label Love Chile. I see so much dichotomy, contradiction in her eyes. Hope/uncertainty, naivety/awareness innoncence/strength, sadness/freedom, a searching - so much in those young little lamb like eyes!

I feel this photo says alot about how we all can feel in life..I know I sure do go through those range of emotions and sometimes in an hour! What can I say I am a passionate being! But seriously I feel that's a big part of the love chile girl..she is a girl full of passion - love and light but not afraid to admit that sometimes there are clouds, challenges, obstacles..stuff to work through. The Love Chile girl has depth, a story and believes in and loves herself for who she is.
Thats all part of the journey. My Mumma has been through her fair share and thats why she is such an inspiration to me..despite her life challenges she has so much love in her heart, she will give you the shirt off her back, invite you in for tea and be your friend. Even if you've only just met - if she feels it, she feels it and she'll tell you either way. My Mumma keeps it real!
Happy with the simple things in life, she finds beauty in everything - her glorious home grown garden, a sunny day, a good conversation or a back breaking hug!
(But she totally loves the fine stuff too - don't you worry! She'll never shy away from a vintage bottle of something bubbly!)

She is gifted, honest, kind, thoughtful, creative, elegant, outrageously fun to be around, the life of the party, an amazing cook and oh that one of a kind laugh! She is THE Love Chile! She is my brand and I am so proud she chose me to be her daughter.

Well the title of this first post says it all...I am born of free love. I am a Love Chile. Born in London in 1976 to fashion free spirits! There could have been no more perfect name for my label Love Chile. I chose to spell Child with a E because Chile is a 70's slang word for Child - a term used alot in 70's rock n roll - ie. Jimmi Hendrix "Voodoo Chile"

I couldnt love 70's rock more if I tried...in particular Led Zeppelin - ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Don't get me started...anyway let's take this slow...I dont want to tell you everything in one hit...perhaps I'll just leave you with the Love Chile verse
